Bearing Isolation Protection
Contamination of bearing oil due to water or particle ingress can lead to bearing damage and, ultimately, rotating equipment failure. Reliable bearing isolation and protection are essential to prevent premature degradation from occurring.
At AVT Reliability®, we use high-performance bearing isolators LabTecta® and MagTecta™ manufactured by our sister company, AESSEAL®. These advanced systems feature patented technology designed to prevent the ingress of water and contaminants, offering protection rated up to IP69K for demanding environments.

LabTecta®LabTecta® bearing isolators feature a non-contact design that eliminates shaft wear while providing excellent sealing performance. These isolators prevent particle ingress into the bearing housing and offer high ingress protection, with IP66 as standard and up to IP69K for more demanding conditions. Suitable for a wide range of rotating equipment, LabTecta® is ideal for pumps, motors, turbines, and plummer blocks. |

LabTecta®
LabTecta® bearing isolators feature a non-contact design that eliminates shaft wear while providing excellent sealing performance. Gearbox Bearing Isolation and ProtectionRecommended products: LabTecta® 66FS | LabTecta® OP Gearbox lubricants need to be free of contamination so that they always operate reliably. Bearing protection products can be installed either when the gearbox is new or as part of a reliability upgrade. The AESSEAL® LabTecta® 66FS is the ideal product for sealing oil-flooded bearing chambers, while the LabTecta® OP is a cost-effective gearbox bearing protection upgrade. |
Electric Motor Bearing Isolation and ProtectionRecommended products: LabTecta® M | LabTecta® MG Electric motors require specifically designed bearing protection products to ensure they are suitable for variable frequency drives and that they meet IEEE 841-2009 requirements. More than half of e-motor failures are a result of moisture or particulate contamination of the bearings, so a flush mount electric motor design bearing isolator will prevent this ingress from occurring. |
Steam Turbine Bearing Isolation and ProtectionRecommended product: LabTecta® ST The high temperatures and steam involved in steam turbines raise unique bearing protection issues. Over time, the carbon ring seals usually fitted in these turbines start to wear and can result in high temperature, high-velocity steam reaching the bearings. The LabTecta® ST is a very effective bearing protector that prevents steam ingress. It is designed to withstand high temperatures and deflect steam, whilst also having extra clearance to allow for thermal expansion. This product uses Aflas® ‘O’ rings which are resistant to temperature and steam. |
Plummer and Pillow Block Bearing IsolationRecommended product: LabTecta® 66PD Pillow and plummer blocks have a larger shaft alignment clearance variance so bearing protection requires a specifically designed product to overcome the challenges this causes. The recommended LabTecta® 66PD bearing isolator is a two-piece design which can self-align to both the bearing block and the shaft. Through continuous pressure, it creates a positive seal on the static elastomer while the machinery is in motion. |
